A fairy tale party: Alomae turns 4

Somebody please tell me how it is possible that my baby turned FOUR?!

So this girl of mine who LOVES princesses wanted to have a party this year,
but this mama is not really a princess theme fan. So my solution, a fairy tale party where she could dress up as princess and I could decorate with decor a little more my style.

It was such a fun couple of hours where Alomae felt so very special!

Here is how the party turned out...

little details

We have lived in our house 5 months now. The house is a rental so we are really just trying to make it feel like "ours" until the doors open for us to buy the right home. God has protected us time and time again from purchasing the wrong place in the wrong location at the wrong time. I feel really blessed to have a safe and comfortable roof over my families head.

I am a details girl. I like the little things that make the big picture look good! Today I was walking through my home, cleaning up messes and unpacking from our weekend trip to the beach when I kept noticing little things I love throughout our home.

here are a few of the things that make my house feel like home...

sweet words made by my love

I am thankful for our space and all the little details really do make me smile.

I love that my house is mostly filled with things you cannot just go and pick up at the store!

a home really is what you make it

it does not matter if you have a little room or an entire house, fill it with the special things you love!

our little woodland tree

I like to do things rustic

Christmas is no exception!

our christmas tree is filled with cinnamon scented pine cones, woodland creatures, mushrooms, and a random pair of red rain boots a friend got me that I LOVE

it's perfect for our cozy little home

I have some more decorating in the works but here is what we have so far

I am going to make a tree skirt out of old burlap coffee bags but until it's done
our old silver one will have to do!

this santa snow globe was one of my favorite things from when I was little
I have kept it around because I thought alomae might enjoy it as much I did!
sure enough, she thinks this musical globe is magical...

daddy, mommy

and our babies...

we had our stockings made last year for us and right after poppy was born I made sure and ordered one for her (she appears to have changed her design a bit, poppy gets a much more svelte version)

wrapping this year is just some fun woodland paper with red twine

and brown paper with red or green bakers twine

alomae is at such a fun age and will be an absolute blast to open presents with come Christmas morning!

with little ones in the house, the magic of christmas is back!

I have not forgotten the true meaning of Christmas though- we actually keep it pretty simple here and will be most of all celebrating and rejoicing in the fact the Jesus was born!

projects (the before's) and she's home!

first off...

my baby is home!!

I am so happy to have this face in my life again :)

Andy is away at the Oregon game so Alomae and I are doing some projects...

we went and bought fabric to make some burp cloths for the baby

Paint for our faux zinc letters for the girls room
(so nice because the cardboard is so much lighter so if it falls it wont hurt them! and not
to mention... cheap!)

Yellow Yarn for more dandelions and some cute vases to put them in...
(here are the white ones I made)

I am excited about the finished products and will show how they all turn out!

I love that my house is full of things that I have been inspired by but made myself...
